Radio Romance Synopsis | Review

hello youtube and welcome to another
full kdrama review this time let's talk
about the entire season of now before we
go any farther I want you to go click
the link below and watch my first
impressions.

So it's been about a week
since I finished radio romance and with
that time I really digested what I've
watched and thought about the things
that I liked and didn't like so let's
just get right into it and let's talk
about the secondary or the supporting
cast first in my first impressions I
said that there wasn't a lot to really
say about them they don't give much of
an impact and by the end of the series
that's definitely not the case there's a
secondary romance plot line that even
develops with two of the characters that
I wasn't expecting to see but I really
did love especially near the end when
they're like in the relationship and you
get little snippets of them they're
super cute oh my god I love them also
there's this writer producer duo that
our female lead used to work for and in
the first four episodes especially the
female writer comes off as really mean
and cruel toward their female character
but at the end of the show I did a
complete 180 on her character I ended up
really liking her and understanding her
and she did remind me of like a family
member that you don't really get along
with in the fact that they're kind of
mean to you they give you a hard time
but they they do have your back when it
counts for my first problem with the
show has to also do with secondary
characters maybe not even secondary
they're like third tier characters you
don't get much screen time with them at
all and they're these group of three
like other writers that our main female
lead is friends with I do friends
because they really don't interact a lot
and so my issue with them is that they
feel very very stereotypical they feel
like they're serving a very superficial
purpose and that you know like we need
to give our female leads some
girlfriends so let's just give them
these people that have no depth at all
and have like no characterization so
they really do feel like throwaway
members of the cast that I would have
preferred just to be cut out completely
because if you're not gonna take the
time to flesh out a character or even
give them some sort of motivation or a
purpose like why are they even there
just get rid of them and that actually
leads to my biggest problem with the
show in our female lead and that her
relationship with those three characters
really reflects her because they're
superficial and not necessary and just
like archetypes of female friends and
she is I feel like I'm gonna get some
people upset by saying this but she
comes off as very formulaic I might
argue that she's like the actress who
plays her is very talented and that you
know she she can cry and she can laugh
and she can't smile but all the moments
that you know her acting shines feel
very planned I mean she she cries when
she should cry and she smiles when she's
expected to smile like everything feels
very very sterile very by-the-book
very like oh this character should
should be sad now like that's what's
expected so let's make her sad now it
never feels true and when she's not
being very by-the-book she's got this
very like blank deer-in-the-headlights
look to her that I found so annoying and
dry like it just felt so shallow
portrayals of emotion and as the series
goes on my initial feeling
being detached from the female
protagonists just intensified and I'll
give you an example possible spoilers
but really not really if you're spoiled
and upset by this you know put on your
big-girl panties when the to officially
get together it really brings out the
male leads like immature childish side
to him in that he will be extremely
clean like he calls her all the time and
she's acting like she's very annoyed by
this that she feels suffocated but
instead of acting like an adult and
pulling him inside and be like okay this
is the problems I'm having with this
relationship like that's work through it
the like the writers decide to drop that
issue once they get the drama from it so
it makes her seem like a character that
has no agency and I'm just one like left
wondering why she was even acting like
she was upset by it like if there's not
gonna be something that comes of it what
was the point and that's not the only
instance
feels like everything is for the sake of
doing it and not because the character
themselves would have done it now
talking about the male lead
he remains all throughout the show the
best part
he's got flaws in the fact that he is
very mature and that probably stems from
the fact that you know his family life
is so turbo turbo treeless he seems like
such a real person like I could walk up
to this character on the street whereas
she seems to exist only in the TV show
space and yeah we do get a little bit of
narration from him very little narration
from him
I think it's episode 7 but when you do
it's now you might be surprised but I am
gonna give this show four out of five
stars and that's because even though I
did have problems with the main female
lead there completely overshadowed about
how amazing the male lead is and the
actual storyline of the show and the
reveals and like the and the conflicts
between his family life and being an
idol and there's a lot to love with this
show I don't think you'll be
disappointed just because I tend to be a
little bit harder on my female
characters then I think the average
viewer if you watch it if you give it a
chance you're gonna fall in love with
everybody and have a great time because
overall this show is a great time we
have
they have a good name by
